Flexible Format
- Full-time and Part-time program options.
- Evening classes designed to fit the schedule of busy working professionals: Monday through Thursday from 6:30 till 9:00 PM.
- Students can apply and begin the program during any academic quarter.
- The curriculum consists of 12 courses. Taking one course per quarter students can complete their degree in three years.
- Taking four courses per quarter students can complete the program in one year. The typical student completes their degree within 2 to 3 years.
- Courses are offered throughout the year – all four quarters – but students do not have to take classes every quarter.

The Best of Business and Engineering
- Core courses in business management combined with graduate level classes within the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences. The IEMS Department was recently ranked # 5 in graduate education by US News and World Report.
- The MEM degree offers the practical business perspective needed by technical managers as well as comprehensive quantitative and analytical tools.
- Up to two elective classes can be taken at the Kellogg School of Management.
- Unlike a traditional MBA program, the MEM Program emphasizes skills specifically required in technology-based organizations.
- MEM offers a four-course Northwestern Engineering Credentials option for those who do not need, or are not ready for, a degree program.
- The MEM faculty is drawn from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences; the Kellogg School; and industry experts from Chicago area companies.
- Faculty members are corporate CEOs and leading practitioners who bring to the classroom a wealth of business and consulting experience; as well as academic scholars of distinction known for their teaching skills and cutting edge research.
Convenient Policies and Locations
- Tuition is paid per course to allow students to spread the cost and keep within their company’s tuition reimbursement policy.
- All courses are offered on Northwestern’s Evanston campus and selected courses are offered in the MEM classroom in Bensenville.
- MEM students are all experienced engineers and technical professionals from a wide variety of companies and industries in the Chicago area.
- Students find that working with other technical professionals from diverse as well as similar organizations provides perspective and insight.

- MEM students can take advantage of Northwestern University’s career counseling services, libraries, and University e-mail and sports facilities.
- MEM alumni are entitled to utilize Northwestern University Alumni services.
